NSE Listing Ceremony: ‘What is good for India is good for NSE,’ says MD and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan

Reports coming in for today mention that Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of NSE, stated the National Stock Exchange represents the aspirations of India's future as the exchange made its much-awaited equity market debut on the BSE on Thursday, September 24.
"There is nothing else that represents the aspirations of India's future than NSE. What is good for India is good for NSE," Chauhan stated at the stock-exchange debut ceremony.
"Personally, NSE has been very close to my heart. For me, capital markets are the essence of a well-functioning society," he stated.
Chauhan additionally described his role at NSE as the biggest honour and privilege of his career.
"After 35 years of career, I consider my role at NSE the biggest honour and privilege of my life. This will never be surpassed," he stated.
He thanked Sebi, the Government of India and everyone who supported NSE through the stock-exchange debut process.
"Thank you, market participants. We are now at a 36 lakh investor family from 2 lakh before stock-exchange debut," Chauhan stated.
NSE shares made their debut on the BSE at nearly a 1% premium to the IPO offering price of Rs 1,785. The stock subsequently advanced further ground, trading at Rs 1,876.70, up Rs 91.70, or 5.14%, from the offering price.
The Rs 22,569-crore NSE IPO, the country's second-largest public offering, was subscribed 5.71 times during the bidding period, fuelled by firm demand from institutional market participants.
