Reports coming in for today mention that The allotment of shares for the SS Retail IPO is scheduled to be finalised today, September 21, after the Rs 500-crore initial public offering (IPO) received firm demand during its three-day bidding period.

The offering was subscribed 103.30 times by the end of bidding on September 18, according to NSE data. The IPO received bids for 90,83,96,230 shares against 87,93,884 shares on offer. The qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) portion was subscribed 203.61 times, while the non-institutional investor (NII) category was booked 143.32 times. The retail portion received 36.36 times subscription.

Market participants can check the SS Retail IPO allotment status through the offering registrar, KFin Technologies, as well as the BSE and NSE websites. The shares are scheduled to be listed on both exchanges on September 23. Refunds for unsuccessful applicants and credit of shares to successful market participants are anticipated on September 22.

In the grey market, SS Retail shares were commanding a premium of Rs 148 over the upper end of the IPO price range, according to InvestorGain. This translates into a GMP of around 34.91 percent over the offering price of Rs 424. The implied stock-exchange debut price based on the GMP is Rs 572.

The SS Retail IPO had a price range of Rs 403-424 per share. The Rs 500-crore offering comprised a fresh offering of shares worth Rs 360 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) component of Rs 140 crore. The shares are proposed to be listed on the NSE and BSE.

Before the IPO opened, SS Retail boosted Rs 146.4 crore from anchor market participants through the allotment of 34.52 lakh shares at Rs 424 apiece to 14 institutional market participants.

Domestic mutual funds accounted for a substantial share of the anchor book. The firm allotted 28.70 lakh shares, or 83.14 percent of the total anchor allocation, to 11 domestic mutual funds through 19 schemes.

The anchor market participants included SBI Mutual Fund, Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Firm, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Firm, Axis Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital, Motilal Oswal Asset Management Firm, Invesco and Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Firm.

Bengal Finance and Investment, backed by investor Ashish Kacholia, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance and 360 ONE were additionally among the anchor market participants. Together, the three market participants invested nearly Rs 25 crore.

SS Retail plans to deploy a substantial portion of the fresh offering proceeds towards strengthening its working capital.

Of the net proceeds, Rs 241.3 crore has been earmarked for incremental working capital requirements. Another Rs 12.4 crore will be used to establish new stores during FY27 and FY28. The remaining amount will be used for general corporate purposes.

The firm plans to add 120 stores each in FY27 and FY28. It had already further noted 33 stores between April and July 2026.

For the scheduled expansion, SS Retail anticipates to spend up to Rs 5.81 crore on 57 stores in FY27 and up to Rs 6.64 crore on 58 stores in FY28.

SS Retail operates a multi-brand retail network focused on mobile phones, accessories and other electronic products. Its operations span Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat.

The firm had 536 stores across the five states as of July 31, 2026, compared with 503 stores as of March 31, 2026. Its retail formats include firm-owned and franchise-operated stores, with brands such as SS Mobile and Mobile Exchange Wala.

SS Retail's shares are scheduled to make their equity market debut on September 23, following the completion of the allotment, refund and demat credit process. KFin Technologies is the registrar to the offering, while Anand Rathi Advisors and Emkay Global Financial Services are the book-running lead managers.
