‘World expects concrete results from BRICS’: PM Modi calls for timelines, last-mile impact

The latest market report highlights that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 13 called for BRICS to move beyond discussions and frameworks towards measurable outcomes, saying the grouping must ensure that its work translates into real-life impact as it enters its third decade.
Addressing the concluding session on ‘Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Expansion’ at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Modi stated the world was now looking to the grouping for concrete results rather than ideas and commitments.
Modi stated the outcomes of BRICS deliberations should be linked to clear timelines and last-mile implementation.
“All outcomes need to be tied to timelines and last-mile impact. The framework needs to move from files to impact in real lives, and we will work together towards achieving that,” he stated in his concluding remarks.
Modi's remarks emphasised the need for commitments made by member countries to result in tangible benefits rather than stay at the level of policy frameworks.
BRICS an ecosystem of solutions
Modi additionally highlighted the participation of countries at the summit as evidence of the grouping's inclusiveness and growing relevance.
“Everyone’s presence here is a testament to BRICS’ inclusiveness and growing relevance. It has strengthened the fact that BRICS is not just a group of countries, but an ecosystem of solutions,” he stated.
He expressed the hope that the New Delhi Declaration would provide a clear direction to the grouping's shared vision and future cooperation.
Modi stated BRICS was entering its third decade at a time when expectations from the grouping had risen.
“BRICS is entering its third decade, and the world now anticipates not just ideas and commitments from us, but concrete results,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that member countries could meet those expectations through joint efforts. “I believe that with our combined efforts, we will be successful in meeting those expectations,” Modi stated.
The Prime Minister additionally extended his best wishes to China, which will host the next BRICS summit.
The 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi brought together 11 member nations – Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and United Arab Emirates (UAE) – who represent a significant share of the world's population and economic output. The summit discussions covered issues including global economic cooperation, local-currency trade, cross-border payments, technology, critical minerals and food security.
