Shares of Vedanta Iron and Steel settled at Rs 32.30 per share on the NSE, down 1.67 percent.

The earnings booking was noted at elevated marks as market participants booked earnings after the firm's shares hit the upper circuit in the previous session.

The sharp buying in the stock was noted after the firm was included in the Nifty 500 and Nifty Smallcap 250 indices. The inclusion followed the latest periodic review by NSE Indices Ltd.

The inclusion in the Nifty 500 places the firm within the broad-market benchmark comprising 500 eligible firms.

Its inclusion in the Nifty Smallcap 250, Nifty MidSmallcap 400 and Nifty Smallcap 500 is anticipated to broaden its presence across key market indices.

The firm operates integrated steel and mining assets, including iron ore mines and pig iron facilities, in key mineral belts.

Vedanta Iron and Steel was among the four businesses carved out of Vedanta Ltd as part of the group's demerger and got listed in June 2026.

Vedanta Iron and Steel had noted a consolidated net earnings of Rs 122 crore for the quarter ended June 30, fuelled by elevated topline from operations.
