The latest market report highlights that The allotment of shares for the Orient Cables IPO is scheduled to be finalised today, September 30, after the Rs 552-crore initial public offering (IPO) attracted heavy demand during its three-day bidding period.

The offering was subscribed 92.27 times by the close of bidding on September 29, according to NSE data. Market participants placed bids for 1,38,18,98,540 shares against 1,49,76,743 shares on offer. The qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) portion was subscribed 182.76 times, while the non-institutional investor (NII) category received 115.63 times subscription. The retail portion was subscribed 30.55 times.

Orient Cables IPO allotment status: How to check

Market participants who applied for the Orient Cables IPO can check the allotment status through KFin Technologies, the registrar to the offering, as well as the BSE and NSE websites. The basis of allotment is scheduled for September 30, followed by refunds and credit of shares to demat accounts on October 1. The shares are scheduled to list on both exchanges on October 5.

Orient Cables shares continued to command a premium in the grey market ahead of the allotment. According to InvestorGain, the latest recorded GMP was Rs 85, implying an estimated stock-exchange debut price of around Rs 357 against the upper offering price of Rs 272. This translates into a premium of 31.25 percent.

Grey market premiums are unofficial and can vary between sources and from one session to another. They are not exchange-traded prices and do not guarantee the actual stock-exchange debut price or post-stock-exchange debut returns.

The Orient Cables IPO had a price range of Rs 258-272 per share, with a lot size of 55 shares. At the upper end of the price range, the minimum investment for a retail investor was Rs 14,960.

The Rs 552-crore offering comprised a fresh offering of Rs 320 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) component of up to Rs 232 crore by the promoter Nagpal family.

Ahead of the public offering, the firm boosted Rs 165.6 crore through its anchor book by allotting 60.88 lakh shares at Rs 272 apiece. The anchor allocation included domestic mutual funds such as Nippon Life India, ICICI Prudential AMC, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC, Motilal Oswal AMC, Invesco, Bandhan Mutual Fund, Sundaram Mutual Fund and Edelweiss.

Orient Cables plans to use a significant portion of the fresh offering proceeds to expand its manufacturing capabilities and reduce its debt burden.

Of the Rs 320 crore boosted through the fresh offering, Rs 91.5 crore has been earmarked for machinery, equipment and civil works at its manufacturing facilities.

Another Rs 155.5 crore will be used for repayment of debt, while the balance will be deployed for general corporate purposes.

As of June 2026, the firm had total outstanding borrowings of around Rs 258.4 crore, including Rs 240.4 crore under secured fund-based facilities.

Gurugram-headquartered Orient Cables manufactures networking cables and passive networking equipment, along with specialty power cables, optical fibre cables and wire and cable harness assemblies.

Its products cater to industries and applications including broadband, telecommunications, data centres, renewable energy and smart building automation.

The firm operates in a market spanning networking and connectivity infrastructure, with its product portfolio covering both communication and electrical applications.

IIFL Capital Services and JM Financial are the book-running lead managers for the IPO, while KFin Technologies is the registrar to the offering. The shares are scheduled to list on the BSE and NSE on October 5.
