IPOs deliver 14% average listing-day gain in 2026

Reports coming in for today mention that Indian IPOs have delivered firm stock-exchange debut-day upside in 2026, with 87 firms making their market debut so far this year. IPOs have recorded an average gain of 14 percent over their offering price in 2026, as compared to 9.3 percent in 2025.
That stated, the upside have varied sharply across issues. While some stocks have doubled on their market debut, others have fallen more than 30 percent below their offering prices on the stock-exchange debut day itself.
ESDS Software Solution saw the best stock-exchange debut upside so far this year, with its shares gaining 112 percent on the stock-exchange debut day over the IPO offering price.
The stock was followed by Tempsens Instruments India, which delivered a 96 percent stock-exchange debut-day gain. SS Retail advanced 77 percent, while Bharat Coking Coal and Behari Lal Engineering rose 76 percent each.
Not all new listings have received a positive response from the market. Waterways Leisure Tourism was among the weakest performers on its debut, falling 17 percent below its offering price.
Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions declined 18 percent on stock-exchange debut day, while Annu Projects declined 24 percent. Innovision and Shree Ram Twistex saw even steeper declines of 28 percent and 31 percent, respectively.
Following the stock-exchange debut, most issues have traded with upside, with the average earnings since stock-exchange debut to date being around 29 percent. That stated, the performance is skewed here as well.
ESDS has advanced 289 percent over its offering price, making it the standout performer among the 87 IPOs. SEDEMAC Mechatronics has advanced 163 percent, while Indo-MIM has risen 153 percent.
Omnitech Engineering and Xtranet Technologies have delivered upside of 131 percent and 125 percent, respectively.
On the slip side, around 26 issues are trading with losses, ranging from one percent to 87 percent. Waterways Leisure Tourism has fallen 87 percent from its offering price, making it the weakest performer among the all IPOs on a post-stock-exchange debut basis. Aastha Spintex has declined 71 percent, while Shree Ram Twistex is down 64 percent.
Overall, the average gain across 87 IPOs indicates that the aggregate performance of 2026 listings has been positive. That stated, there has been a wide gap between the best and worst performers so far, over three quarters of the calendar year.
