Prasinos develops indigenous nanobubble technology for water treatment

As per the latest business developments, Hyderabad-based deep-tech firm Prasinos Tech Innovations has developed and commercialised domestically designed nanobubble technology for applications including aquaculture, industrial wastewater treatment, lake rejuvenation and water management, the firm stated.
The development is aimed at reducing reliance on imported systems for water and environmental applications, with Prasinos taking its nanobubble-based technology from research to deployment across multiple sectors, according to a statement issued by the firm.
The firm’s core offerings, branded SWANCAV and NanoCav, use cavitation-based methods to produce micro- and nanobubbles that enhance gas-liquid interaction in water systems. These are being used in settings ranging from large water bodies and aquaculture facilities to industrial effluent treatment plants, the firm stated.
Nanobubble technology has typically required specialised engineering knowledge and application-specific customisation, making in-house technological capability significant for long-term scalability, the firm noted. Prasinos stated its systems are both designed and manufactured domestically.
Firm officials linked the development to a wider shift within India’s deep-tech sector, where efforts are moving away from importing sophisticated technologies towards building, producing and marketing them locally.
Dr Aditi Mullick, Founder and Managing Director of Prasinos, stated, “India has invested significantly in building scientific capability, but the real opportunity is in converting that capability into technologies that can be deployed at scale.” She further noted that building products domestically allows the firm “to engineer solutions around the specific requirements of Indian industries and water systems.”
The firm pointed to rising challenges around water scarcity, declining water quality, industrial effluent management and aquaculture sustainability as factors driving demand for treatment methods that do not depend heavily on chemicals or energy inputs.
Applications of the SWANCAV and NanoCav systems include raising dissolved oxygen marks, controlling algae expansion, restoring lakes and treating wastewater, the firm stated, adding that its patent portfolio extends across multiple cavitation-based industrial and environmental uses.
Dr Anupam Mukherjee, Founder and CEO of Prasinos, stated, “The difficult part of deep-tech is not reaching a working prototype; it is making the technology dependable, manufacturable and relevant to real-world users.”
The firm stated its trajectory reflects a broader propel within India’s technology sector to establish domestic ownership of critical environmental infrastructure, rather than continued dependence on imported alternatives, as water management assumes greater importance in industrial and urban planning.
