Granules India promoter offloads shares worth Rs 1,509 crore; Morgan Stanley picks stake in Lotus...

As per the latest business developments, Promoter Krishna Prasad Chigurupati has offloaded shares worth Rs 1,508.64 crore in Hyderabad-headquartered pharmaceutical manufacturing firm Granules India through two open-market transactions on September 11.

Perhaps following the block deals, Granules India shares hit a new closing high of Rs 909.30 on the National Stock Exchange, gaining 1.12 percent amid high trading volumes.

The promoter sold 1.33 crore equity shares, representing a 5.36 percent stake in Granules India, at Rs 872.50 per share. The shares were acquired by several domestic and global market participants, including Capital Group, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC, Goldman Sachs and Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance, for a total of Rs 1,160 crore.

Krishna Prasad Chigurupati additionally pared another 39.04 lakh shares, or a 1.57 percent stake, for Rs 348.64 crore at Rs 892.84 per share.

In total, the promoter sold shares worth Rs 1,508.64 crore, reducing his stake in the firm by 6.94 percent.

On the other side, US-based investment management firm Capital Group acquired an additional 41.39 lakh shares, representing a 1.67 percent stake in Granules India, for Rs 361.12 crore.

Capital Group, through Smallcap World Fund Inc, already held a 1.59 percent stake in Granules India as of June 2026.

Further, four domestic market participants picked up additional shares in Granules India. Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Firm acquired 11.54 lakh shares for Rs 100.71 crore, while 360 ONE Pipe Fund bought 2.86 lakh shares for Rs 25 crore. SBI Life Insurance Firm and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund each acquired 5.73 lakh shares for Rs 50 crore.

As of June 2026, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Firm held a 1.7 percent stake in Granules India, 360 ONE Pipe Fund held a 1.1 percent stake, SBI Life Insurance Firm held a 2.84 percent stake, and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund held a 1.43 percent stake.

Jagdish Naresh Master, Myraa Varun Raheja, Sundaram MF, BNP Paribas Financial Markets, Buoyant Opportunities Strategy-III, Clarus Capital 1, Edelweiss MF, Emerging Markets Equity Fund, Florida Retirement System, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe and Optimix Wholesale Global Emerging Markets Share Trust, among others, additionally participated in the block deals in Granules India.

Morgan Stanley buys 0.3% stake in Lotus Developers

Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore Pte acquired 15 lakh shares, representing a 0.3 percent stake in Mumbai-based real estate firm Sri Lotus Developers and Realty, from Mohamed Irfan Mohamed Latif Shaikh for Rs 30.26 crore at Rs 201.75 per share.

Lotus Developers shares rose 0.67 percent to Rs 209.27 amid heavy trading volumes, despite selling pressure at elevated marks.
