Gland Pharma block deal: 4.5% stake worth Rs 2,121 crore changes hands; Fosun Pharma likely seller

Reports coming in for today mention that A 4.5 percent stake in Gland Pharma Ltd worth around Rs 2,121 crore changed hands through a block deal on Friday, a day after notes stated promoter Fosun Pharma was looking to pare its holding in the Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical firm.

As many as 75 lakh shares of Gland Pharma changed hands in the block deal window. Based on the transaction value of Rs 2,121 crore, the shares were traded at an average price of around Rs 2,828 apiece. The stock declined after the large trade, and was trading down 0.6 percent at Rs 2,890 on NSE in the late morning trade.

The identity of the buyer and seller was not immediately known. That stated, Fosun Pharma is likely to be the seller after notes stated on Thursday that the Chinese pharmaceutical major was looking to sell up to a 5 percent stake in Gland Pharma through a block deal.

The proposed transaction was initially pegged at Rs 2,279.5 crore, with a floor price of Rs 2,763 per share, representing a 5 percent discount to Gland Pharma's Thursday closing price. The deal was additionally noted to carry a 12-month lock-up on any further share sale by the seller.

Fosun Pharma Industrial held a 51.77 percent stake in Gland Pharma as of the June 2026 quarter, making it the firm's largest shareholder. A sale of 4.5 percent equity would reduce its holding to around 47.3 percent, assuming Fosun was indeed the seller and the entire noted trade represented its stake sale.

Gland Pharma shares closed at Rs 2,907.9 on Thursday, up 1.38 percent. The stock has surged around 70 percent so far in 2026, sharply outperforming the Nifty 50, which has fallen 8.7 percent over the same period. The drugmaker had a market capitalisation of around Rs 48,100 crore at Thursday's close.
