Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) led the demand with 159.59 times subscription, while the non-institutional investor (NII) portion was subscribed 48.55 times and the retail quota 13.26 times.

The IPO opened on September 9 and closed on September 11. The price range was set at Rs 241-254 per share, with a minimum lot size of 59 shares. Karamtara Engineering shares are commanding a premium in the grey market ahead of the allotment. According to InvestorGain, the latest GMP for the offering is Rs 71 per share on September 15. At the upper end of the IPO price range of Rs 254, this implies an indicative stock-exchange debut price of around Rs 325, translating into a potential stock-exchange debut gain of 27.85 percent.

The Rs 875-crore IPO comprises a fresh offering of 2.66 crore shares worth Rs 675 crore and an offer for sale of 78.74 lakh shares worth Rs 200 crore.

The firm plans to use the fresh offering proceeds primarily to meet its debt obligations. According to IPO Watch, around Rs 600 crore is earmarked for prepayment, repayment or settlement of borrowings and related obligations, with the balance intended for general corporate purposes.

Before the IPO opened, Karamtara Engineering boosted around Rs 262.50 crore through its anchor book. The firm allotted around 1.03 crore shares to 15 anchor market participants at Rs 254 apiece.

HDFC Mutual Fund was among the prominent institutional participants in the anchor allocation.

Karamtara Engineering noted topline of Rs 4,316.36 crore in FY26, compared with Rs 3,165.36 crore in FY25. Earnings increased to Rs 228.75 crore from Rs 139.33 crore during the same period.

The firm manufactures products and components used in the renewable energy and electrical infrastructure sectors, with its business including solar tracker components and transmission and distribution equipment.

The IPO opened on September 9 and closed on September 11. The basis of allotment is scheduled for September 15, followed by refunds and demat credit on September 16. The stock is anticipated to debut on both the BSE and NSE on September 17.
